Happy Friday!

I can't believe this week has gone by so quickly! It is Friday already? When did that happen? I hope the next 5 days go by quickly, and then as soon as Wednesday gets here, time can stop! This is my Thanksgiving wish I(is that a real thing? well it is now) because my sister, brother-in-law, and lovely little niece are coming to visit us in Colorado!!! Anyway, I have been preparing for their coming arrival by purchasing a pack-n-play (yes...all my friends with small kids can visit us too!!!), and picking up diapers and baby food, not to mention my long list of grocery items for making my very first Thanksgiving meal! Please do not mistake me, I am not complaining. I am actually happy to do all this stuff. I am like Martha but with a Mary attitude, I guess you could say. There are still many things in which I need to get ready for my visitors, like finally cleaning out my car because it still has sticky, half-eaten yogurt drops encrusted on my seats left over from babysitting, and this is just not acceptable any longer. The list goes on, and I will certainly not bore you, dear reader, any further, for I am sure you have your own lists and preparations that are looming over your shoulder. Did I mention that I have a habit of conveniently distracting myself from things that need to get done right away with things that I would rather do instead? Yes. I learned this art of procrastination well in my college days. Anyway, I have decided, instead of more grocery shopping, cleaning, and whatever else needs to get done, I am making Christmas cards. These will be up on my site either today or tomorrow at the latest. This making of the Christmas cards is also creating more of a mess to clean up later, but for now, I am having fun!
Ah, well...Happy Friday!

The Holidays Are A'Comin'

I just returned from a wonderful weekend at the "Happiest Place on Earth," and while being at Disney World, I had the chance to see all the beautiful lights set up for Christmas. Cinderella's castle was just dripping in icicle lights, Main Street U.S.A. was decked with wreaths and laden with fake snow, and Hollywood Studios was covered in millions of tiny colored lights that danced. How could I not give into to holiday spirit, only a week away from Thanksgiving which will officially kick off the season. I have been trying to work on getting some of my hand drawn cards (Christmas and otherwise) up onto my shop. So, as I listened to my collection of favorite Christmas tunes, I created a woodland scene wishing you a happy holiday. More cards will be appearing on the site as the week progresses...and not just for the Holidays but for all occasions.
The cards come in a set of 10 for $15.00, and they are 5x5 and include the envelopes. More details are given on the shop site. Also, don't forget to purchase a mustache ornament. So far, you have helped me raise close to $40 for the Red Cross! Help me make it to $50 by the end of the week...I only need to sell just a few more to reach that first goal! Have a happy week.

No Shave November

October has come and gone, and as we enter this month, there is much on which to think and reflect. With the recent events that have occurred in Colorado (the Jessica Ridgeway case) and the storm on the East Coast, it has been a tough past few weeks for my past and current communities. Feeling helpless and not sure what to do, I have been contemplating on how I can help out, even in some small way. So! This is my scathingly brilliant plan that has struck me like lightning... November is known to some hipsters/mountain men/the regular Joe as the month where they stop shaving in order to raise awareness for prostate cancer. Well to ride on the coattails of that idea, I will be making mustache ornaments and will personally donate a percentage of what I sell to the Red Cross to help out the victims of Hurricane Sandy. So, please! let us join in this effort and help out those who are in need of resources. Don't forget that it is important to do your part by donating food and goods to the people of New Jersey and New York when you can. I love these two states as they have been my home at one time or another in my life. I know that they will heal and recover, but right now times are difficult. Sale of mustache ornaments begins tomorrow November 2. Please facebook me or leave me a comment on the blog if you are interested in helping out by purchasing an ornament.
ornaments come in three colors (so far) espresso, brown, and the Santa Stache

First Sale!

Well, I made my first sale (see picture left)! I can hardly believe it myself, what with this happening so quickly and all. This has given me inspiration to continue creating some fun items, especially for the upcoming holiday season!
I just finished a beret for my sister this morning, and if you like what you see, let me know and I will keep making more! This is a two toned knitted hat with antique buttons. I think it is pretty cute! Anyway, check back with the blog to see what will be showing up in my store in the next few weeks.

Up and Running

Hello blog world...it is me, big apple beth. As you may have guessed, my days as that nom de plume have ended with me moving from the Big Apple to the Mile High City! For those of you who have been wondering where I have disappeared to, well allow me to explain. In July, Patrick and I left out beloved NYC, friends, and family to move out West. Ever since I read the Little House on the Prairie series, I dreamt about pioneering to a new land and forging my path with freshly made footsteps. A far cry from those tough days, I feel that being out here has renewed my perspective on life. For one thing, there is a lot of space out here, not to mention the most majestic mountains I have ever beheld thus far. We have been settled here for the past few months, and I can say that, as difficult as it was leaving, I am happy that we are here. So...onto the cozy rhino. This is my new Etsy store where I will be selling hand-drawn cards, knitted cozies, and possibly some fine art as well a.k.a. paintings. To keep posted with it all, I will be blogging about my store and my creations, offering funny stories and tips for knitting. Please visit, and check up on what my newest Colorado adventures will be!
